On behalf of this year's Board of Directors and Officers of the National Association of Asian American Professionals – Houston (NAAAP-Houston), I hope you and your family have enjoyed a great start for 2008. With the great success from our recent Charity Date Auction, proceeds benefiting high school graduates, we have entered 2008 with exciting opportunities for you.
This year, we are very much in line and in spirit with NAAAP –National's motto of "We Make Leaders!" We will continue to keep this key mindset in our various partnerships and participation in the areas of Professional Development, Networking, & Community Service. Whether you are just starting out in your professional careers and / or would like to give back to the community with your experience and insights, our Houston chapter offers you the immediate opportunity to get involved, contribute, and give back to the community.
You can make a difference, a direct impact in our success right now. Volunteer. We invite you to expand yourself and test drive areas of your professional horizon that you may be hesitant to do so in your actual job…well, because it is your actual job. What better place to try new things, to fine-tune the skills you have, and to apply yourself in a safe, supportive environment that encourages and challenges you to take yourself to the next level?
Along with the Board of Directors, I am clearly very excited, inspired, and directed towards making 2008 a meaningful and valuable year! In this process, we will do our best to keep you informed through our website, email listings, and word of mouth promotions. We welcome your ideas and helpful feedback so we can improve NAAAP – Houston to better serve you. As you can appreciate, we are an organization built by a great team of passionate volunteers who dedicate their time, energy, and patience to achieve our shared vision.
Now, I personally invite you – our members, our patrons, and our partners – to play a more active role in our organization. If you have ever wondered about how to make a difference in our community and how to hone your leadership skills, ask us. In fact, ask about the specific opportunities to join our team and volunteer for events that match your interests.
Please feel free to contact me or the other Leadership members with any questions, suggestions or comments that you may have.
As a duly registered non-profit organization in the State of Texas, we would like to continue our mission of reaching out to the professional Asian community and empowering as many individuals as possible! With your support, we can continue to make this happen. The Board and I truly look forward to meeting you at a future NAAAP –Houston event.
Sincerely,
Andrew Chen
