NAAAP-Houston has kicked off our annual College Scholarship Program. Senior high school students of Asian-Pacific descent are eligible for NAAAP-Houston's $1,000 (first place) and $500 (second and third places) college scholarship awards! Application deadline is Friday, March 31.
All current high school seniors of Asian Pacific descent, enrolled in a high school within the Houston Metropolitan area, expecting to graduate in the year 2006, are eligible to apply. The Houston Metropolitan area includes: Harris, Fort Bend, Waller, Chambers, Liberty, and Montgomery counties.

2005 Winner: Rachel Shen
Ms. Rachel Shen was the 2004-2005 valedictorian of Bellaire High School. In addition to serving as President of the Bellaire International Students Association and having a leadership role in several other student organizations, Ms. Shen is actively involved with both the Asian American community and the wider Houston community. She has volunteered at the Children's Museum of Houston, and she has donated her time to serving in the campaigns for local and regional leaders such as Gordon Quan, Tim Shen, and Martha Wong. Ms. Shen interned in the Aero department of Stanford University, received a 1590 on her SATs, and will attend Stanford University this fall. Ms. Shen hopes to become a math teacher. |
